There's no place you'd rather be

Picture
On the waters of the Okavango, that's where she resides, the Kubu Queen. Floating atop the Okavango for over 30 years, she awaits. During the day the Queen guides you through the Eden of Sub-Saharan Africa and at night to view the equally inspiring African sky and magnificent stars that give you a wink for spending time with her highness.

In 2022, she got a facelift, a new pair of keels, new dressing, chine and shine. Her worship calls on you to join her on a journey of discovery through this untouched paradise. Enjoy the daily banquets and feast your eyes on the animals that call Botswana home; from the ancient crocodiles in the river, the majestic elephants roaming the land to the regal fish eagles soaring up above.

The Queen has sailed the Delta waters for 30 years, t
hat is why you should trust no one else to give you, your family and friends an adventure you will NEVER forget.

Greg's unequalled passion and enthusiasm is what makes him a sought after Okavango professional guide.  His exceptional knowledge of the river, its fauna and flora and its surrounding eco-systems are testament to his many years as a professional guide in Botswana's wildlife areas. Alongside the formidable Kubu Queen team they will endeavour to thrill you with all the magic the Okavango has to offer.
GREG THOMPSON –  Professional guide

T E S T I M O N I A L S

Billy and Gee have helped Greg run the boat since the start some 10 years ago, when I was
fortunate enough to begin my “love affair”with Kubu Queen and the Okavango.
The meals rustled up in the tiny galley are outstanding and the general housekeeping on the
mother ship and the fishing tender boats is always immaculate. Billy meantime has
developed into a very skilful guide and boatman.
Then there's the skipper, chief guide and owner Greg. His knowledge of the bush, the bird
life, the river, the wild life and, most important, the fish, never ceases to astonish us. His
predictions on the behaviour of the catfish and tiger fish and actions to adapt are uncannily
accurate and invariably result in good catches when other boats are fish-less. He's helpful,
supportive, patient, humorous and generally damn good to be with, whether round the
camp fire or chasing Tigerfish.

The Okavango Delta

Did you know?

Picture
The Okavango Delta in Botswana is one of the world’s largest inland deltas. While most river deltas usually lead to an ocean, the Okavango River empties onto open land, flooding the savanna and creating a unique and ever-changing inland oasis. Here are facts you probably didn't know about this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

  • The Delta was voted as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa
  • The Okavango Delta is deemed one of the world’s premier wilderness areas. During the dry season, around 260,000 mammals congregate around the delta.
  • Across its 15,000 square kilometres, the Okavango Delta is very flat, varying just two metres in height.
  •  The Okavango Delta is home to 530 bird species including the extremely rare Pels Fishing owl, one of just a handful of fish-eating owls in the world.
